The internet is filled with a tremendous amount of false medical information, often inciting fear and anxiety for individuals seeking clarity from a medical-based google search. Low levels of health literacy often mislead patients to an incorrect internet self-diagnoses which can further complicate the individual’s condition.

“Asking the Internet for medical advice is something millions of us do every day. More than a third of Americans say they check with “Dr. Google” when they feel symptoms coming on. But the proliferation of health information online offers a mixed bag of valuable resources and misleading or junk information.
